Here at Jacobsen Pediatric Dentistry, our number one goal is to prevent tooth decay. Despite these efforts restorative treatment often becomes necessary. This may be due to decay or tooth trauama.
Due to advances in dental materials there are many different types of restorations that are available. Gone are the days when silver or unsightly restorations are absolutely necessary.
The most common restorative needs of our patients calls for white (composite) fillings. Silver (amalgam) fillings are still available if that is the preference of the parent. Depending on the size and depth of the cavity, a nerve treatment (called a pulpotomy) and/or a pediatric crown may be necessary. We offer stainless steel (silver) pediatric crowns and also white zirconia crowns depending on the needs of your child and your preference.
Dr. Matt is also very experienced at treating dental trauma. Broken teeth can often be repaired very esthetically with tooth colored composites. If your child experiences dental trauma, do not hesitate to call as the outcome of some tooth injuries are time dependent.
All of your child’s restorative options will be discussed with you at your child’s appointment. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions or bring up any concerns that you have.
